Food bank
WATCH THE FOOD BANK CHRISTMAS 2010 VIDEO
In June 2010, Arena Church launched its own food bank. We have become increasingly aware of the number of people within Ilkeston who have no food and are in need of emergency supplies. So we started on the simple but effective premise that the people of the church bring groceries as often as they can and a team are on hand to sort pack and distribute.
We are in discussions with numerous local organisations to set up a referral system where those in need can obtain a food parcel. We are hopeful that during August we will have a storage unit in situation to enable us to further this work.
We need people to partner with us by donating:
- Nappies, baby milk, lotions, baby food
- Toiletries – sanitary towels, deadorant, talc, shampoo, shower gel, soap, shaving foam, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Tins – beans, potatoes, pasta, spaghetti, soup, rice pudding, tuna
- Rice, pasta, noodles
- Breakfast cereals
- Orange juice, apple juice, dilutable juice
- Powedered milk, tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate
- Biscuits, raisins, nuts
Also if businesses have pallets of supply that are surplus please contact us and we will distribute to those in need.
We also give away hundreds of hampers at Christmas to needy families and on Mothers’ days, we supply Pamper Packs to local women’s refuges, to Derby hospital and to other women who may be in need.
Your contribution may be large or small, but either way, it will make a difference. If we all play our part, we will see this ministry grow and flourish help to reach people who are in genuine need.
WE ALSO NEED BUSINESSES, SCHOOLS & OTHER ORGANISATIONS to help.
If you would like more information or you would like to get involved in this vital ministry, please contact us.
