Cleaning things up
This is not a rant (honest!) but rather a serious call to everyone to live unpolluted. What do I mean?
Well I’m not an expert in the areas of ecology and environment but I do understand the dangers of pollution. Over the Summer BP have been trying to cap an oil leak in an area I love to visit, the state of Florida. It’s caused mass destruction to the sea, coastline, plants and wildlife and many people’s livelihoods. Some would say a catastrophic disaster but what about a greater pollution that is happening each day that causes men to murder, children to be abused, terrorists to plant bombs and lives to be trafficked?
What is the cause? Pollution. The pollution of the mind. This is a far greater disaster than any oil spill or flood, no matter how awful these things are.
Minds and hearts being fed and filled by explicit images, pornography, violence, envy and greed – their medium: TV, magazines, internet chat rooms.
I am by no means taking on the mantle of Mary Whitehouse (for those not old enough to remember her, she was an activist for cleaning up TV) but i am concerned with what is shown on TV and what is so readily available particularly in light of the news headlines over the past week of an uncle murdering his neice, a man abusing a 3 year old and prostitutes dying in suicide pacts. i am heartbroken by these sad and evil headlines. The cause is the pollution of peoples hearts with SIN.
Jesus came to forgive our sins, to cleanse and heal, to redeem and restore, to set the captives free, to bring fulness of life to every person. The polluter (Satan) only comes to steal, kill and destroy; to rip people off; to pollute and make dirty. I am not perfect but I want to live unpolluted. If you read this and are in pain because of your sin, give your life to Jesus today. Ask him to forgive you and cleanse you.
Come on lets clean things up!
