PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT MESSAGE re: ARENA CHURCH MANSFIELD

On Sunday 20th June, an exciting announcement was made regarding the future of our church. From September this year, we will be launching a new service in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. It has been a desire amongst the leadership for many years to establish a congregation in the Mansfield area, so this is a great step forward for Arena Church. The service itself will run at 6pm every Sunday, beginning on 5th September and will carry the very same heart and DNA as you would expect from our services in Ilkeston. The meetings will take place at Field Mill, the home of Mansfield Town FC, in the Kevin Bird suite.

Just interested to know why it was the ‘desire amongst the leadership to establish a congregation’ in a town 20 miles away and in another county?!

Thanks for your question. A number of reasons really; firstly, exactly because it is in another county and 20 miles away! As a church we have always had a desire to grow beyond the beyond the boundaries of our ‘home’ town of Ilkeston, however much we love it and will always have a passion to impact it with the message of Jesus Christ. Our call as Christians in Matthew 28 is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, so really, venturing into a town 30 mins away is just a small step. Mansfield has been on the heart of our Lead Pastor for many years, not least because it is where he grew up; and as a church, we have always had a large number who have travelled in from the Mansfield area, and we have established strong ties with the town over the years. Ultimately, the leadership felt called by God to go into Mansfield, which we have done with a sense of humility, at times nervousness, but at the same time confident that God is with us and knowing that he can do great things in the town.
